The following paragraphs provide the initial adjustments and tests required before operating the PDU. Operator
procedures consist of hydraulic system pressure and operational tests and pesticide application rate adjustments for each
Secondary hydraulic manifold should be adjusted to 300 psi in all modes of operation.
a. LV System Boom Assembly Pressure Adjustment.
Personnel handling solid or liquid pesticides shall use appropriate personal protective
equipment consisting of respirators, coveralls, rubber gloves, goggles, etc., as required
by type of pesticide used and in accordance with manufacturer's label directions. Avoid
direct contact with pesticide. Observe all warnings on label. Handle pesticide in well-
ventilated area. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.
All initial tests should be performed with water only. All following tests for calibration
should be performed with pesticide.
Remove center nozzle from left or right boom and install test tee, pressure gage, and nozzle.
Fill bucket with pesticide. Use sight gage on side of bucket.
Make sure gate valve on crosstube assembly is open.
Connect hand control assembly to wiring harness.
On hand control, make sure SYSTEM switch is set to OFF and POWER switch is ON.
Set key on engine to ON.
Start engine with ENGINE START switch.
Set SYSTEM switch to ON. Check for hydraulic leaks, that EMPTY indicator is not lit, and that pressure
gage on primary hydraulic manifold assembly indicates 900-12900 psi.
