Remove the breaker point wire from the points and the coil.

Connect a meter lead to each end of the wire and check for continuity.

Wiggle the wire back and forth. If the meter does not register a current, replace and go to Step
5e. If the meter does register a current, go to Step 6.

Start the engine.

If the engine starts, the problem is solved.

If the engine does not start, go to Step 6.

Check the breaker points.

Remove the breaker point cover.

Open the points with a screwdriver and inspect them. If they are pitted, burned, or badly oxidized,
replace them and go to Step 6c.
