Initially two sets of the Commercial InstructionManuals, supplemented by a separate SOMARPI and TB385-1 03 (Safety Procedures) were issued to support thesoil tester.b. After initial issue of Tester, the manufacturersmanuals, the SOMARPI and TB 385-103 were combinedinto this manual.5-8. FACILITIESa. No special maintenance facilities are requiredfor the tester.b. For storage facilities, see Section IV, Para 4-17 and 4-18.5-9. EQUIPMENT IMPROVEMENTRECOMMENDATION (EIR’S). EIR’s will be submitted inaccordance with instructions contained in DA PAM 738-750.5-10. DESTRUCTION TO PREVENT ENEMY USE.When the tester cannot be evacuated the following willbe done:a. Remove the circuit boards and display panel(loosen and remove the four screws located in thecorners of the tester’s display panel, pull off panel, andcut or disconnect wiring).b. Destroy the display panel and circuit boardsby crushing.c. Destroy worksheet and logs by crushing,tearing, and burying, or scattering over a sufficientlylarge area to make recovery improbable.d. Abandon the remainder of the tester.5-11.PROCEDURE. In addition to operating andmaintenance instructions, see Section IV, SafetyProcedures, in this manual.5-12. MANUFACTURER’S SAFETY DEFECTS. If anymanufacturer’s safety defects occur, upon notificationTACOM will advise users on action to be taken forcorrection and reporting.5-13. MANUFACTURER’S FIELD CAMPAIGNS ANDMODIFICATIONS.Modifications are not anticipated. Ifnecessary, they will be applied by CPN after TACOM’sapproval of the field campaign or modification plan.5-14. Consult with the unit Transportation Officer toinsure that the tester is shipped in accordance withDepartment of Transportation Regulations (Title 49 CFRParts 170-189) AR 385-11, TM 38-250, and the NuclearRegulatory Commission Regulations (Title 10 CFR Part71). For CONUS, a commercial shipper should be usedto transport the tester.b.
