TROUBLESHOOTING5-3.GENERAL.a.This section contains troubleshootinginformation for locating and correcting mostOf the operating troubles which maydevelop in the Control Unit. Eachmalfunction for an individual component,unit, or system is followed by a list of testsor inspections which will help you todetermine corrective actions to take. ’Youshould perform the test/inspections in thecorrective actions column in the orderlisted.b.This manual cannot list all malfunctions thatmay occur, nor all tests or inspections andcorrective actions. If a malfunction is notlisted or is not corrected by listed correctiveactions, notify your supervisor.NOTEBefore you use table 5-2, be sure youhave performed all applicable operatingchecks.c.The table lists the common malfunctionswhich you may find during the operation ormaintenance of the Control Unit or itscomponents. You should perform thetest/inspections in the corrective actionscolumn in the order listed.d.Check all available information on theequipment.e.Make a visual inspection of the equipment.(1)Inspect the equipment for evidence ofphysical damage.(2)Inspect the terminal strips for cleanand secure connections.(3)Inspect all wiring and cabling for wornor frayed insulation and broken wires.(4)Inspect all resistors for discolorationdue to overheating.(5)Inspect the complete subsystem forthe presence of dirt, corrosion,moisture, and bits of wire or solderinside the housings.NOTETouchup paint is recommended instead ofrefinishing whenever practical.(6)Inspect all metal surfaces intended tobe painted for condition of finish andlegibility of panel lettering.5-1
