Transport Vehicle - A cargo-carrying vehicle such as an automobile, van, tractor, truck, semitrailer, tank
car or rail car used for the transportation of cargo by any mode.
UN - United Nations.
UN Number - The four-digit number assigned by the United Nations Committee of Experts on the
Transport of Dangerous Goods to identify a substance or a particular group of substances. (The prefix
"UN" must always be used in conjunction with these numbers.)
UN Standard Packaging - A specification packaging conforming to the requirements in Title 49 CFR,
subparts L and M of part 178.
Unit Load Device - Any type of freight container, aircraft pallet with a net, or aircraft pallet with a net
over an igloo.
Vessel - Includes every description of watercraft, used or capable of being used as a means of
transportation on the water.
Water Resistant -

Wooden Barrel - A packaging made of natural wood, of round cross-section, having convex walls,
consisting of staves and heads and fitted with hoops.
