CHAPTER OVERVIEW.
The purpose of this chapter is to introduce you to the general capabilities and requirements of the test set and
to the U.S. Army documentation which supports the use and maintenance of this equipment.
Section I. GENERAL INFORMATION
a.
Type of Manual: Operator instructions and direct support maintenance instructions including repair parts
and special tools list.
b.
Equipment Name and Model Number: M140 Chemical Agent Automatic Alarm test set.
c.
Purpose of Equipment: The test set tests all operational capabilities of the M43A1 detector and the
M42 alarm unit.

Department of the Army forms and procedures used for equipment maintenance will be those prescribed
by DA PAM 738-750. The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS) as contained in the maintenance
management update.
